Program
Anitra is the Founding Executive Director of Azure Pittsburgh, a nonprofit program of Autism-Pittsburgh. Azure brings people of all ages, abilities, and behaviors together through free, sensory-friendly concerts, school programs, and sound baths. These inclusive programs celebrate neurodiversity, belonging, and the shared joy of making music.
Cancer Bridges
Sound Baths
Anitra offers free sound baths and Sound Reiki sessions for anyone impacted by cancer, including patients, survivors, caregivers, and those grieving a loss. Held at Cancer Bridges in Pittsburgh, these gatherings provide a gentle and supportive space for rest, comfort, well-being, and connection.
MegaTeam
Events
Anitra is a member of the MegaTeam, a collective of sound practitioners and professional musicians led by Monique Mead. Held throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area, these immersive gatherings blend dozens of singing bowls with live instruments, surrounding participants with soothing sounds and shared community.
Tiferet Project
Sound Baths
With the Pittsburgh nonprofit Tiferet Project, Anitra collaborates with Cantor Julie Newman to offer sound bath experiences grounded in Jewish music, wisdom and ritual. Offerings include Havdalah Healing, Monday Night Menuchah, holiday events, and retreats, blending tranquility and Jewish tradition.

Anitra partners with schools, nonprofits, corporations, and individuals to create customized experiences tailored to each audience and setting. Offerings include public or private sound baths, interactive programs for all ages and abilities, Sound Reiki programs, forest bathing walks, wellness retreats, and programs incorporating Jewish music and ritual. Events can be hosted at your chosen venue, or at the Allison Park office.
Anitra also offers engaging presentations for audiences ranging from students and educators to healthcare professionals and community groups. Popular topics include neurodiversity, accessibility and inclusion, the science of sound, sound-based wellness practices, and holistic approaches to well-being. Available in-person or virtually.

About Me
Anitra Birnbaum is certified in sound healing, Reiki, and forest bathing (shinrin-yoku). A former internist with MD and PhD degrees, she brings together scientific training, compassionate presence, and holistic practice. Through sound baths, concerts, and wellness programs, she shares her love of music and nature, helping people find moments of rest, renewal, and connection. Anitra also enjoys gardening, hiking, cooking, narrating audiobooks for the Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians, and paddling with the Pittsburgh Hearts of Steel dragon boat racing team. She lives in Wexford, PA with her husband and three children.
